Hannon 1: Round 1

Welcome to the first round of Tranquility Creek. Our first house belongs to the Hannon family.

Brothers Larry and Randy have always been close, even going so far as moving in together after retiring. They didn't plan on their daughters, Erica and Stephanie, both moving in with them, though. Or on Erica bringing along her young son, Aiden.

Hi, there!

Stephenie: ...Who said that?

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm the mysterious voice.

Stephenie: No, seriously. Who said that? Is somebody hiding in the bushes?

Nope. Just your friendly neighborhood disembodied narrator.

Stephenie: Whatever. I don't have time for this. I have to finish my jog.

Maybe I'll have better luck with Erica. Hi there, Erica!

Erica: Um...hello? Who's there?

I'm the mysterious voice.

Erica: But where are you? And who let you into our house?

Never mind where I am, it's...complicated. Anyway, what are you up to?

Erica: Writing. I'm trying to get a freelance writing thing off the ground. I could take a professional job as a writer, but this lets me stay home while Aiden's young.

Stephenie: Say, have you guys been hearing a strange voice from nowhere?

Emily: Um, no...

That's because I haven't gotten to their houses yet.

Judith: What the...Stephenie, you should really call somebody about that.

Just wait, Judith. I'll be over to your house soon enough.

And this must be Aiden. Hi there, buddy!

Randy: Don't talk to strangers, Aiden.

Don't worry, Randy. I'm not a stranger. I'm the mysterious voice, the neighborhood narrator.

Randy: Ok...don't talk to the narrator, Aiden.

Randy: Sorry we had to put your bed in the old closet, Aiden. We didn't expect your mom and aunt to move back in with us at the same time.

Aiden: That's ok, Uncle Randy.

Hey, at least you have your own room.

Aiden: I know. Mom has to share with Aunt Stephenie. I don't think Mom minds, but Aunt Steph isn't happy.

Stephenie: I can't believe we're sharing a room again.

Erica: It's not that bad. Remember when we used to share a room when we were little?

Stephenie: Yes. I hated it then and I hate it now.

Aiden: Hey Grandpa, Uncle Randy showed me how to catch fish too. He told me all about how you used to want to catch all the fish in the world.

Larry: Oh did he now...

Aiden: Yeah! I caught like 10 minnows! I thought you could use them as bait for when you go fishing!

Larry: Oh, that must be what that smell is.

Larry: Stupid toilet...everything in this house is breaking.

Can you fix a toilet with wrench?

Larry: Of course. What else would I use?

Aiden: Meet my new friend Maxwell, Mom!

Erica: Oh, that's great honey. Why don't you two play outside for awhile? I'm almost done with the next chapter of my book.

So Randy, you look a bit out of sorts. What's up?

Randy: I'm exhausted. I took a job as a dishwasher to bring in more money after the girls moved back home, but I'm just not up to working these long nights anymore. I kind of thought after I retired I'd be able to...retire.

Aiden: Weird voice, are you any good at math?

It's mysterious voice, Aiden. And no, no I'm not.

Wow...a perch and an angelfish. You're quite the angler...

Larry: Hey, at least it's something. I think they really tie the room together.

Hey, congrats, Aiden.

Aiden: Thanks, weird voice.

Aiden: Grandpa, can we go fishing tomorrow?

Larry: Sure, buddy. I need some more bait.

Ahh, so Stephanie's an athlete. Nice job, Stephenie.

Stephenie: Thanks, um...whoever you are. But how did you know I got promoted?

I'm a disembodied voice. I know things.

Hey, Erica, I thought you were trying to go the freelance route...

Erica: Well, I was. Then the computer broke. We don't have the money to replace it, and if any of us try to fix it we'll be electrocuted. So, I've got to pull in some more money.

Oh, good. These guys have chance cards too. Let's serve water.

Um...ok. I guess the chance cards here aren't quite as impactful.

Man, first the computer and now the sink?

Erica: Ugh, I know. At least the sink we can fix without injuring ourselves, though.

Congrats, Randy.

Randy: Ugh, thanks.

You don't seem thrilled.

Randy: Well, it's just that this promotion took so long. I'm not getting any younger, you know. Say, you're a magical voice, right? Can you, like, make me just get promoted faster?

Well, first of all, I'm not magical. I'm mysterious. And second, no, I can't just make you get a promotion. Besides, I have to head over to the next house.

Randy: But I was just getting used to you.

Don't worry, I'll be back with you guys next round.

A Message From the Mysterious Voice: And there you have it! The first post in Tranquility Creek. This lot gave me some growing pains with using Skitch to capture screenshots in this game, hence why I didn't capture Randy or Stephanie choosing their careers. These guys are actually really fun to play-especially the relationship between Aiden and Larry. Aiden has the Whiz Kid aspiration while Larry has Angling Ace, so the two of them spend hours fishing together behind the house. Aiden catches the minnows and perch that Larry uses as bait to catch the bigger fish-it's really cute.
